Your Role In Infection Control

Infection control and antibiotic stewardship programs are vital to health care. With an epidemic of antibiotic resistance sweeping across the world the learner will understand their role in the importance of controlling pathogens in the operatory.
Jessica, Shelley and Melia are 3 educators and clinicians that were inspired to start Hygiene Edge, an online education platform. They seek to educate, inspire and promote industry best practices through helpful videos and content for dental professionals. Shelley Brown, MED, RDH, has been in the dental industry since 2001. She is an Adjunct Professor at the Utah College of Dental Hygiene, owns and runs a mobile dental practice called Homebound Smiles, serving a population that rarely has access to a dental professional. She loves riding her 4 young boys around on her cargo bike.
Jessica Atkinson, MEd, BSDH, RDH, has been in the dental field for 23 years with experience as front office staff, dental assistant, Dental Hygienist and Dental Hygiene Education. Education is Jessica’s joy, from educating patients, students and anyone else who comes across Hygiene Edge’s YouTube channel. She speaks both nationally and internationally to continue educating, growing, and being inspired with her fellow dental professionals.
Melia is a proud clinical dental hygienist in Utah. She loves learning, educating, and advocating for dental hygienists to grow in their profession and serve our local communities. She speaks nationally, and loves to write about teeth and create helpful dental videos. When she’s not talking about dentistry or how amazing RDHs are, she’s planning her next trip either out of the country or to a National Park or being a mom to her two daughter girl gang and goldendoodle pup.
