Review of Common Oral Soft Tissue Lesions and the Dental Hygienist

Course Description

The dental hygienist is instrumental in the preliminary evaluation and data collection of oral pathological conditions. This course will review key definitions and terminology used in the patient care diagnostic process, examine images of common oral soft tissue lesions, and outline how to record findings in the patient chart. Case studies and differential diagnoses to help assist the dentist in a preliminary diagnosis will be discussed.

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Recall common oral soft tissue pathology definitions and terminology
  • Identify variants of normal oral soft tissue structures
  • Recognize oral soft tissue abnormalities
  • Utilize descriptive terminology to properly include findings in the patient chart

1.5 live CE credits

  • Consists of a 1.5-hour live Zoom class session, incorporating activities and discussion.
