“Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse in Pennsylvania”

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  This course will help you gain an understanding of your role as a mandated reporter in meeting your legal obligations in the area of child protection as per the Child Protective Services Law (CPSL). You will describe and apply current information on the CPSL, recognize elements and indicators of child abuse and neglect, and demonstrate reporting procedures.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  • Describe and apply current information on the PA Child Protective Services Law
  • Review the role and responsibilities of the Child Protective Services System
  • Identify elements and indicators of child abuse
  • Review child abuse reporting procedures
  • Describe the actions taken by the county agency in response to reports of child abuse
  • List the status determinations that are assigned to child abuse reports

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:  Angela Yorina, RDH, MS, PHDHP

Angie is a graduate of Northampton Community College and Misericordia University. She is currently a dental hygiene instructor at Luzerne County Community College and also works temporary at several local dental offices as needed. Angie also presents courses on special needs patients, communication, and various other dental related topics. She is a certified trainer through Pennsylvania Family Support Alliance to present “Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse” training to mandated dental professionals since 2015.

Dentistry only accepts 2 CEU’s
