OSHA, Infection Control and Bloodborne Pathogens for Dental Professionals

Course Description:

This Dental Infection Control continuing education course will help provide dental professionals with principles and practices effective in reducing the spread of harmful pathogens to patients and staff in the dental practice.

Course Objectives:

  •         Recognize the current OSHA guidelines and standards for dentistry, including Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communication, Ionizing Radiation standards
  •         Review an Emergency Preparedness Plan
  •         Discuss workplace violence and injuries
  •         Outline employer obligations

About the Speakers:

Jeannie Mattingly, RDH

Jeannie has been practicing dental hygiene since 2006. She received her associate degree in Dental Hygiene with a license to deliver local anesthetic and is certified to perform laser disinfection. Jeannie is also a Certified Dental Assistant with over 25 years of experience in the dental field.  Jeannie lectures on OSHA and Bloodborne Pathogens and is the OSHA Officer for her practice helping to maintain a safe office environment for her team and patients. Jeannie is also a member of the public relations team in the periodontal practice she has been employed for the past 18 years.

Michelle Adams, RDH, BS

Michelle graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She has worked as a dental hygienist, public relations coordinator, and office administrator for over 25 years in the periodontal practice she is employed. Currently, Michelle holds a license to deliver local anesthetic, is certified in laser disinfection, and is a CPR Instructor, teaching First Aid and Basic Life Support classes with the American Heart Association. Recently, she became certified in ACLS – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and also lectures on Medical Emergencies for the Dental Office and Hygienist as well as OSHA and Bloodborne Pathogens.
