Oral Cancer & Diseases: Case Presentation of Lumps, Bumps & Lesions

This course deals with unusual cases, diagnostic challenges, the oral health effects of tobacco products and alcohol, premalignant and malignant lesions, presenting an oral cancer diagnosis to a patient and new diagnostic technique. Tobacco advertising will be exposed and the link between human papilloma virus and oral cancer discussed. Treatment of oral cancer and oropharyngeal cancer will be presented.

A Patient Can Have as Many Diseases as They Pleases
This interactive course will present a potpourri of interesting cases seen by Dr. Svirsky or emailed to him over the past few years. In addition, some wonderful cases from previous years will show up. In this course participants learn how to describe a lesion, develop a differential diagnosis and treat the condition. Dr. Svirsky will show how he approaches cases and arrives at a diagnosis.

This course will have interesting cases in which the audience will help Dr. Svirsky diagnose. However, this is the tip of the iceberg. A review of oral cancer, human papilloma virus and its association with oropharyngeal cancer, melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, syndromes, vaping and much much more. Course Objectives

At the completion of this course the participants should be able to:

  1. Learn the current treatment of oral cancer and oropharyngeal cancer
  2. Understand the current prognosis of oral and oropharyngeal cancer
  3. Develop a logical approach to the recognition and diagnosis of premalignant and malignant lesions
  4. Understand the risk factors associated with the development of oral cancer
  5. Present an oral cancer diagnosis to a patient
  6. Understand the enticement of tobacco advertising in tobacco addiction
  7. Develop a logical approach to the diagnosis of oral lesions.
  8. Recognize and diagnose pigmented oral lesions and melanoma
  9. Recognize the risk factors that are associated with oral cancer
  10. Recognize the importance of vaccines in the prevention of oropharyngeal cancer
  11. Understand the etiology and diagnosis of the following: Oral cancer, Human papilloma virus and the association with oropharyngeal cancer, Melanoma, Basal Cell Carcinoma
  12. Learn to describe and develop a differential diagnosis of various clinical cases.
  13. Learn to treat selected oral diseases and distinguish “good from bad.”
  14. Feel more confident in dealing with your patients’ oral problems.
