This presentation is about when and why to treat certain malocclusions with examples of patients who either delayed or chose not to have treatment. We will go over how to identify characteristics of a malocclusion and age-related considerations on when to start treatment. Different orthodontic techniques are addressed, but the presentation is less about mechanics and more about evidence-based examples on why and when to treat.

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Identify overbite, overjet, openbite, dental and skeletal crossbites and crowding
• Know when to treat the above
• Understand the ‘why’ of treatment
