Course Description

What do generational differences look like in the workplace? What can you do to bridge the gap?

Today’s dental workplace consists of a variety of generations (Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z) within the dental team and the patients they serve. People born around the same time have a common history of major events and experiences, which shapes their attitudes, values, expectations, and how they process and communicate information. This course aims to help participants improve teamwork and patient compliance by developing an understanding of the different characteristics of each generation and how to overcome the unique challenges inherent in working within a multigenerational team and caring for patients across the generations.

Upon completion of this course, the practitioner will be able to:

1. Describe the characteristics of each generation found in today’s workplace.
2. Identify methods to improve communication and collaboration with generations different from your own.
3. Explain ways to promote teamwork and partnerships among diverse patients, families, and staff members.
