Exploring the Myths and Misconceptions about Oral Health and Pregnancy

April 25 @ 7:30 pm 8:30 pm EDT

Free 1 CE credit

Description

Despite the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) longstanding advocacy for routine dental care before and during pregnancy, there’s still a significant disconnect between the awareness and implementation of these recommendations in clinical practice. This gap in care can lead to suboptimal perinatal outcomes and overlooked oral health needs in pregnant patients.

Join CareQuest Institute and ACOG for a webinar — featuring a dentist and an OBGYN — that will explore the oral health-obstetrics connection and provide up-to-date information for treating patients who are pregnant. Our expert panel will discuss the bidirectional relationship between oral health and perinatal outcomes, the impact of the oral microbiome on the fetal microbiome, and the FDA’s amalgam update.

Learning Objectives

  • Apply the most recent guidelines for dental care in pregnant patients to clinical scenarios, integrating current research findings into treatment and care plans.
  • Analyze the factors contributing to the gap between current recommendations and clinical practice, including educational gaps and practitioner reluctance.
  • Evaluate strategies for enhancing collaboration between dental and obstetric professionals to improve perinatal outcomes.
