Differential Diagnosis of Pain in Dental Practice

January 26 @ 12:00 pm 2:00 pm EST

$69 2 CE credits

This course will examine the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of common non-odontogenic sources of pain. While most pain encountered in the dental office is odontogenic in nature, clinicians often encounter patients who have no obvious odontogenic cause for their pain, whether it be clinically or radiographically. Through this course, Dr. AbdelFattah will review the most common non-odontogenic sources of pain. She will also give a detailed discussion on examination, diagnosis, and patient management, followed by a question and answer-session.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand that not all pain in the para-oral and intra-oral areas are odontogenic in nature.
  • Describe the etiology of referred pain.
  • Discuss the appropriate treatment approach for patients with non-odontogenic sources of pain.
