Current Trends, Tips, and Guidelines for Intraoral Radiography

Course Description

What’s the current buzz in Dental Radiography?
This course will explore the latest information including handheld x-ray devices, lead shielding and the concept of ALADA (“as low as diagnostically acceptable”). We will also review the American Dental Association’s current guidelines in relation to selection criteria for frequency and type of radiographs, terminology, and radiographic interpretation of common lesions and artifacts. Discussion will include strategies and helpful tips to enhance confidence and skills in intraoral radiographic imaging.

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

• Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of hand-held x-ray devices as well as the ADA’s new narrative regarding lead shielding and the concept of ALADA.
• Review the most common lesions, artifacts, and descriptive terminology.
• Identify common challenges and solutions for intra-oral imaging and apply strategies   to make intraoral imaging easier for the practitioner as well as the patient.

• Consists of a 1.5 hour live Zoom class session, incorporating activities and discussion.
