Biological complications of abutment design with Dr. David Barack

While building robust tissues to surround the implants we place, maintaining the health and stability of the surrounding marginal bone is key to long-term peri-implant health. This requires stable, biologically acceptable abutment and prosthetic designs that respect the natural architecture of the surrounding tissues. Clinicians also face multiple options and decisions regarding the materials, methods and dimensions of the restorations placed upon implants. The consequences of poor design or execution can be traumatic to the health of peri-implant tissues. This course reviews a series of complications associated with poor abutment design. We will also review a variety of clinical considerations that impact the choice of abutment design, dimension and materials used.
This course is intended for dental professionals or students with a basic understanding of dental terminology, practice, and proficiency.
