Advanced techniques in peri-implant tissue augmentation and maintenance
April 24 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm EDT
The present treatment philosophies revolve around building long-lasting and healthy tissues to surround the implants we place in the hope of discouraging the development of peri-implantitis.
Much of the literature points to the need for placing implants into sites with a minimum of 2 mm of bone surrounding the implant. In addition, there is also evidence that thicker, soft tissues surrounding the implants will lead to less marginal bone loss and gingival recession. As a result, multiple procedures are described to augment ridges, graft extraction sites, and develop these thicker peri-implant environments. Clinicians must decide which procedures they are comfortable performing, which materials work in their hands, and how to evaluate their results. This course will review the procedures and materials available to accomplish these goals.
